Meditation and Your Spirituality

by New Age on April 13, 2010

Meditation in and of itself is a spiritual practice. Meditating involves letting go of those distracting thoughts and quieting the mind. And it’s usually when you allow yourself to detach from the outer world, you naturally connect with your true inner self.

Connecting with your true inner self is a spiritual act and will increase your overall spiritual awareness. With improved spiritual awareness comes improved self awareness and there are many benefits that come from being fully aware of yourself. For instance, when you connect with yourself, your life’s purpose and goals and true inner desires become clear. It’s common for people to spend so much time searching the external world for answers, when truthfully, the answer is within each and everyone of them.

You’ll experience an array of positive benefits when you take up meditating and the good news is that it doesn’t have to take a lot of time. Rather, the opposite is true. Start your meditation practice by committing to 10 minutes a day. Consistency over intensity is important when it comes to your meditation practice and if you remain consistent, you’ll start to experience great things almost immediately. Your ten minute meditating sessions will soon be effortless and you'll be ready to amp up your practice with 15 (or even 20!) minute meditating sessions. Once you’ve mastered the art of this, begin to meditate twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening.

The types of meditation are almost endless, so play around with some of the techniques and find the one that’s best for you! Remember that every type of meditation will contribute to your spiritual awakening as long as you practice on a regular basis. There’s no time like the present to stop reaching out to your external world and start reaching within. This is when your true spiritual awakening will begin.
